Sitting in Alberta, Marmot Basin provides an affordable alternative to skiing the Rockies. Although it doesn't see as much snowfall as other resorts in the region, the few crowds here means the powder stays fresher for longer, plus it has the second highest base elevation in Canada. The mountain offers up above and below the tree line terrain as well as a wide variety of runs. For lodging, nearby Jasper has a range of choices to suit all budgets.

This is the mountain I learned to ski on 25 years ago. Then I learned to snowboard at Marmot as well. The powder is dry and stays light and fluffy for days after a dump. The crowds are nothing compared to other places, and if you're waiting more than 5 minutes for a lift, that's the exception, not the rule. Usually you ski right onto the lift. For... More

My favourite mountain, it’s high up,, it’s really chilled out, not overly busy like the others, I’m a beginner and it was just a whole lot of fun, Jasper is great to head out to, not really a party spot but it’s enjoyable... More

It's a bit out of the way, but Jasper is a really nice resort town. The time I went, I didn't get great snow but we had fun with what it was. There are lots of places to sleep and lots of places to eat. The riding is decent and they have a reasonably long season. It's a reasonable drive from Edmonton if Edmonton is on your way.... More

Marmot has always been "home" for me. I grew up riding this mountain. I love the changes they've done over the last few years. All the high speed quads make for short lift lines even on the busiest day.... More

Great place to ski the Rockies without the crowds. Really good bang for your buck. Not as many powder days as some resorts but when you do get them there's less of a crowd to contend with making them that much better. Closest big city is Edmonton at 4 hours away.... More
