The massive resort is packed to the brim with 23 outstanding restaurants, bars, lounges and snack shacks. Whether you’re looking for a quick stop on the slopes or a relaxing meal out with the family, you’ve got plenty of options. Big White is known for their award-winning après-ski establishments, so don’t forget to give them a try at least once throughout your trip.

On Mountain

A day of skiing at Big White is not complete without a heaping plate of poutine or a deep bowl of chilli as you rest up for an afternoon of action-packed fun. The mountain offers a wide variety of options for when you decide to take a break from all of that powder.

If your stomach starts to rumble while you’re coasting down the blues on the east side, the Black Forest Day Lodge at the base of Black Forest chairlift offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Monashee and Selkirk mountain ranges as you enjoy their modern multicultural cuisine. Here you can fuel up on crowd favourites like chicken and waffles, tofu green curry and rice, or beef goulash.

At the base of the Ridge Rocket Express, the Ridge Rocket Cafe serves breakfasts, homemade soups, burgers and hot dogs. For those with little ones, the Carvery at Happy Valley near the beginner learning area has quick meals like burgers, wraps, salads, so that you can get right back on the snow.

If you happen to make it to the west side, the Moonlight Bistro at the base of the Gem Lake Express offers a perfect opportunity to relax and stuff your face before diving into the runs in Gem Lake Area. Hearty chilly, hot dogs, sandwiches and soups are some of the many options you’ll find here as well as a cheeky beer or cider.

Off Mountain

Back in the village, an array of diverse of restaurants, lounges, and bars await your arrival; cafes, grills, tapas, bistros, the options are endless. With so many places to choose from, you might find yourself in a state of analysis paralysis, so we wanted to do you a solid by listing off some of our favorites.

For breakfast, check out Clocktower Coffee Co., located in the Village Centre Mall. The relatively new coffee shop has breakfast sandwiches such as the Heck Ya breakfast sandwich, baked goods like their famous Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Bun and of course specialty coffees.

If you happen to find yourself in the village for lunch time, Moose Lounge is a great casual option where you can grab burgers, chicken fingers, and many other family favourites. With multiple food and drink specials and daily live music between 4:00pm to 6:00pm, the restaurant is the perfect setting for an afternoon lunch with the family. Moose Lounge is also open for dinner on the weekends.

Amongst the fierce competition of outstanding restaurants around the village, Kettle Valley Steakhouse stands out. The exceptional upscale venue is perfect for date nights or special occasions, though prepare to dig a bit deeper into your pockets. Their notorious 50 oz tomahawk steak which has been aged for a minimum of 28 days pairs well with many of the reds off of their extensive Okanagan-centric wine list.

Apres-Ski

Like many resorts in Western Canada, Big White attracts a spirited crowd to the village after the long days on the slopes. Many of the restaurants are open late, but for those who want to keep the party going late into the night, you won’t be hard-pressed to find a venue packed with likeminded partygoers.

Snowshoe Sam’s features a laid back, pub-like atmosphere, full of passionate and friendly skiers and snowboarders. Open daily until 1:00am, the bar often has live music along with daily drink specials to wash down the delicious food. If that’s not enough to convince you, might we mention that they were voted Canada’s #1 Ski Bar by Ski Canada Magazine, and Best Après Ski Venue in North America by The Good Skiing and Snowboarding Guide. Impressive, isn’t it? Almost as impressive as the massive stone fireplace and superb food upstairs at the Gunbarrel Grill.

Sessions Taphouse is our second favourite option on the mountain. Their general manager, Justin Marshall, has been working day and night to lock down the venue as the go-to scene for popular DJ’s and bands. Unpretentious bar food and a wide selection of beverages can be enjoyed with views from the largest deck on the mountain. The ski-in, ski-out access attracts crowds from all walks of life, 7 days a week.
