Ski Resorts in Michigan

There are plenty of skiing options in Michigan as only one state (New York) has more ski resorts. Ski areas are spread over much of the state and mountain enthusiasts can access over 1000 runs through 260 lifts. Michigan is also the preferred destination for cross-country skiers who can enjoy 3,000 mi of trails.

Getting there

  • Fly into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport or Kalamazoo International Airport: they are the main gateway for resorts in southern Michigan. Alternatively, fly into Cherry Capital Airport or Pellston Regional Airport for resorts in northern Michigan.
  • Best way to resorts from these airports is by driving or taking a shuttle bus (when available). The majority of ski destinations are an hour or less away from the nearest airport; with Boyne Highlands being the closest ski resort to any airport, under half an hour from Pellston Regional Airport.
